A Tyleen hose is used for water and gas pipelines. Tyleen hoses are primarily made of ZPE and HDPE. HDPE is a strong and tough material; it is waterproof and does not absorb water. HDPE can withstand temperatures up to 80 degrees and is UV-resistant. HDPE is odorless and non-toxic. ZPE is a sustainable plastic that is manufactured. ZPE has a very long lifespan and has a minimal impact on the environment. ZPE can also be easily recycled. ZPE has great flexibility and is easy to install, even with many bends in the installation work.

Sizes of Tyleen Hoses

You can order Tyleen hoses in various diameters:

  • 16mm
  • 20mm
  • 25mm
  • 32mm
  • 40mm
  • 50mm
  • 63mm

These sizes are available in lengths of 1000cm, 2500cm, 5000cm, and 10000cm.

A Tyleen water pipe can be recognized by a blue stripe on the outside of the Tyleen hose. Tyleen hoses are often used for outdoor water pipes. Since you want to drink the water, it is important to choose a Tyleen hose that has the KIWA quality mark.

A Tyleen hose can withstand frost, but it is better to prevent it. You can prevent frost in a Tyleen hose by emptying the hose in the winter and spraying it dry or by placing the water pipe deep enough. It is best to dig your Tyleen water pipe at least 60 centimeters deep to prevent the hose from freezing and breaking.

Tyleen hoses are not suitable for hot water. High temperatures can cause legionella to occur in the water.

In most cases, the rigid form of Tyleen is suitable. However, in cases where many bends need to be installed, it is wise to choose the flexible (and slightly thicker) soft variant. Because of its flexibility, you can easily bend it into the desired shape.

When you want to lay the pipe in the ground, dig a trench at least 30-35 cm deep. Be sure to carefully loosen any patches of grass from the ground so you can place them back properly. If you want to protect the water pipe from frost, you should dig the trench at least 80 cm deep.
