Cartes Bancaires are the most widely used credit cards in France, with more than 64 million cards in circulation. The cards are co-branded with Visa. As with other credit cards, customers pay for their purchases later, usually at the end of the month, but the merchant does not have to wait for them. Although payments are not guaranteed, the purchase insurance that consumers receive increases conversions for merchants. Offering Cartes Bancaires as a payment method makes it easy for businesses to expand into France and offer their service and products there. In 2015, 11 billion Cartes Bancaires transactions were processed, accounting for 565 billion euros.
