Properties and Supply of EPDM Rubber (NEPA 270)
EPDM rubber is a highly elastic material that remains flexible even at extreme temperatures. This black rubber is resistant to UV radiation, ozone and water, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. It has a long service life, resists ageing and can be used without issues in contact with acids, alkaline solutions, water vapour and for electrical insulation. The material is also wear-resistant. At NEPA, EPDM is processed into various forms such as sheets, strips or rings, supplied uncoated or self-adhesive on one or both sides.
Applications of NEPA 270
EPDM rubber is used for various seals against air, dust and water, including in industry, construction, maritime and road building. Thanks to its resistance to weather influences, it remains reliable in outdoor applications. The material is applied in the automotive sector for sealing and electrical insulation. It is also suitable as bearing rubber for heavy structures because it absorbs horizontal movement and angular displacement. EPDM can furthermore be used for damping or shock absorption, for example in computers where rubber rings reduce vibrations and serve as spacers or decoupling rings.
