The Manntek Industrial Safety Break-away coupling is an essential safety component specifically designed to prevent costly damage and hazardous leaks in loading and unloading systems. This specific industrial type acts as a controlled breaking point in an installation where one side is mounted to a fixed point and the other to a flexible hose or loading arm. If a vehicle, such as a tank truck or railcar, unintentionally drives away while the connection is still established, the coupling breaks the connection as soon as the pulling force exceeds the preset breaking value of 15 kN.
The innovative design of this aluminum coupling with a 3-inch BSP thread connection ensures that both sides of the connection are immediately and automatically hermetically sealed upon breakaway. This minimizes the release of liquids or gases, protecting both the working environment and the ecosystem. The industrial version is unique because it functions not only under a straight pull but also effectively breaks away at angles up to 90 degrees. Thanks to high-quality FPM and PUR seals, the coupling is resistant to various chemical and petrochemical media, while its robust construction allows for easy restoration after an incident by simply replacing the breaking bolts.
