The Manntek Marine Safety Break-away coupling (SBC) is an essential safety component specifically developed to prevent costly damage and dangerous leaks in maritime environments. This coupling serves as the intentional "weakest link" in a hose assembly. When a ship, bunker barge, or other vessel unintentionally drifts away while the connection is still established, the coupling disconnects the connection in a controlled manner as soon as the axial pulling force exceeds the set breaking value of 9 kN.
In contrast to the industrial version, the Marine Version is designed with increased resistance to torsion and bending loads. This prevents the coupling from being unintentionally activated by wave action or the natural movement of a vessel. At the moment of separation, both sides of the connection are immediately and automatically hermetically sealed, minimizing product loss and protecting the environment.
This version is manufactured from high-quality aluminum and features a 2-inch BSP female thread connection on both sides. The coupling is equipped with standard Viton (FPM) seals, which offer excellent resistance to ozone, weathering, and chemicals at temperatures between -20°C and +200°C. After an incident, the coupling can be easily restored on-site using a spare parts kit.
Application: Ideal for fuel bunkering, ship-to-ship transfers, and industrial process plants.
Maximum Working Pressure: 16 bar (test pressure 24 bar, minimum burst pressure 80 bar).
Breaking Value: Set at an axial pulling force of 9 kN.
Material: Aluminum body with FPM (Viton) seals.
Certification: Complies with the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and is approved by Lloyd's Register.
Safety: Suitable for use in ATEX Zone 1 and transport of dangerous goods (ADR, RID, IMDG).Deutsche Übersetzung
