The Manntek Marine Safety Break-away coupling (SBC) is an essential safety component specifically developed for the harshest maritime conditions. This coupling serves as the weakest link in a hose assembly to prevent costly damage and dangerous leaks if a ship or bunker barge unintentionally drifts away. Once the pulling force on the transfer line exceeds the preset breaking value of 52 kN, the coupling disconnects in a controlled manner.
In contrast to the industrial variant, this Marine Version is specifically designed to offer increased resistance to torsion and bending loads, preventing unwanted activation caused by wave action or vessel movement. At the moment of separation, both sides of the coupling are immediately and automatically hermetically sealed, minimizing product loss and protecting the environment.
This version is manufactured from robust Stainless Steel and features a 4-inch BSP female thread connection on both sides. Thanks to the high-quality Viton (FPM) seals, the coupling is resistant to aggressive media and extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to +200°C. After an incident, the coupling can easily be restored on-site by replacing the three external breaking bolts with an original spare parts kit.
Application: Ideal for ship-to-shore, ship-to-ship, and ship-to-rig transfers of fuels and chemicals.
Maximum Working Pressure: 10 bar (test pressure 15 bar, minimum burst pressure 50 bar).Breaking Value: Set at an axial pulling force of 52 kN.
Material: Stainless steel housing with FPM (Viton) seals.
Certification: Complies with PED directives and is approved by Lloyd's Register.
ATEX: Suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (Zone 1).
