The MannTek Industrial Safety Breakaway coupling, identified by part number N516D4401, serves as the "weakest link" in a transfer line to prevent catastrophic equipment damage and environmental contamination. This industrial version is specifically designed for the loading and unloading of road and rail tankers, ships, and ISO containers.
The coupling operates using three external breaking bolts. If the transfer line is subjected to an unexpected tensile load—such as a vehicle driving away or a ship drifting—the bolts break at a predetermined force. This triggers a separation where internal valves instantly seal both open ends. The mechanism is designed to trigger at any pull angle up to 90 degrees, ensuring reliable protection in various industrial scenarios.
Body Material: High-quality Stainless Steel 1.4408 (AISI 316) for superior durability and chemical resistance.
Connections: 4" BSP female threaded connections on both sides, conforming to EN ISO 228.
O-Rings: Fitted with Viton (FKM) seals, offering a temperature range of 20°C en +200°C.
Pressure Ratings: Maximum working pressure of 25 bar, a test pressure of 37.5 bar, and a minimum burst pressure of 125 bar.
Certifications: Fulfills European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) category 2 requirements and is ATEX Zone 1 approved. It is also cleared for ADR, RID, and IMDG transport.
Following a separation event, the N516D4401 can be inspected and reassembled on-site with a set of spare breaking bolts, requiring no special tools to return the system to service.
