The Manntek Marine Safety Break-away coupling (SBC) is an essential safety component specifically developed for the most demanding maritime conditions. This coupling serves as the intentional "weakest link" in a hose assembly to prevent costly equipment damage and dangerous leaks. When a ship or bunker barge unintentionally drifts away, the coupling disconnects the connection in a controlled manner as soon as the axial pulling force exceeds the set breaking value of 13 kN.
In contrast to the industrial version, the Marine Version is designed with increased resistance to torsion and bending loads. This prevents the coupling from being unintentionally activated by wave action or the natural movement of a vessel. At the moment of separation, both sides of the coupling are immediately and automatically hermetically sealed by internal valves, minimizing product loss and protecting the environment.
This version is manufactured from robust Stainless Steel 316 (1.4408) and features a 2-inch BSP female thread connection according to EN ISO 228 on both sides. The coupling is equipped with high-quality Viton (FPM) seals, which offer excellent resistance to ozone, weathering, aging, and chemicals. These seals are suitable for extreme operating temperatures between -20°C and +200°C. After an incident, the coupling can easily be restored on-site using a set of original spare parts.
Application: Ideal for ship-to-shore, ship-to-ship, and ship-to-rig transfers in the petrochemical and maritime industries.
Maximum Working Pressure: 25 bar (test pressure 37.5 bar, minimum burst pressure 125 bar).Breaking Value: Set at an axial pulling force of 13 kN.
Material: Stainless Steel 316 housing with FPM (Viton) seals.
Certification: Complies with the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) category 2 and is approved by Lloyd's Register.
Safety: Suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX Zone 1) and approved for the transport of dangerous goods (ADR, RID, IMDG).
