The MannTek Marine Safety Breakaway coupling with part number N103M4401 is the critical safety link for fluid transfer in demanding maritime environments. While standard industrial couplings can break at various angles, this Marine version is specifically designed to activate at a defined axial (straight) tensile force. This makes the product ideal for ship-to-rig and ship-to-ship transfers, bunkering operations, and container discharge.
In the offshore sector, hoses are subject to constant motion due to waves and currents. Therefore, the N103M4401 is constructed to offer higher resistance to torsion (twisting) and bending loads compared to the industrial variant. This prevents the coupling from activating prematurely due to the natural movement of the vessel. Only when the tensile load for example, due to a vessel drifting exceeds the limit of the three external breaking bolts does separation occur. Internal valves seal both ends immediately and leak-free, minimizing product loss.
Material: Manufactured from high-quality Stainless Steel 1.4408 (AISI 316) for maximum corrosion resistance in salt environments.
Connection: 1" BSP female thread according to EN ISO 228 on both sides.
Pressure Range: Suitable for a maximum working pressure of 25 bar, a test pressure of 37.5 bar, and a minimum burst pressure of 125 bar.
Seals: Equipped with Viton (FKM) O-rings, resistant to temperatures from -20°C en +200°C.
Certification: Fulfills the requirements of the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) category 2 and is ATEX zone 1 certified. It is also approved for ADR (road), RID (rail), and IMDG (maritime) transport.
A major operational advantage of this model is that the coupling does not need to be replaced after an incident. The unit can be inspected on-site and restored to full operation with a set of new breaking bolts, minimizing costly downtime in port or at sea.
